Why Teaching is Fun and Makes me Feel so Alive

Before talking about why teaching is Fun, let me first tell you a bit about how I got into this and fell in love with teaching.

My Trip to teaching started in my first year at the university when I used to explain the courses to my classmates before the exams, but that wasn’t really when I discovered my passion for teaching.

when I joined ITC (Information Technology Community) I started delivering workshops and courses for other members, and here I started developing my teaching skills and technics of delivering the information, but even at this point, I was still explaining stuff for my friends and people who are considered as part of my family.

My true story with teaching and my first challenges were when I started delivering workshops for people from out of the club, and here it is another story of stress, preparation, and getting used to this kind of stress, but let’s keep this story for another day. By delivering these workshops I discovered my passion for teaching.

After Graduating I taught for some months at high school, and it was a different world, teaching teenagers a new topic they have no idea about (computer science) and getting them to start asking questions and creating interest in it. As much as they learned from me I learned more from them and from this experience ( by the way, I also learned that teaching is a long path of continued learning).

Since the last November and until these moments I do teach programming for kids at “ose it” (this wonderful place deserves a complete article about it another time) and this is also a whole different experience, a big challenge, and an immense responsibility to teach them things I never knew it existed until university, but not just this, the bigger responsibility is to make a positive impact on those kids.

Teaching is fun because of these moments when you get to see your students applying what you taught them in real life.

Teaching is magical because every new day is a different experience, no two days are similar, you have the privilege of seeing new things every single day.

Teaching can make you feel self-satisfied when you see the growth and improvement of your students as a result of time and hard work.

Teaching makes you feel alive because it gives you the opportunity to help your students reaching their goals step by step, having new dreams, and creating new objectives.

Teaching is a continued journey of learning because with every single piece of information you teach you are exploring new things with your students and learning with and from them

Teaching is inspirational because of this group of special students who fall in love with learning, and you start to see that their imagination is getting no limits but the sky and above.

Teaching is Fun because of all the people and colleagues you teach, learn and have great moments with them.

I can keep writing about teaching until the morning but it is too late now and I gotta sleep so I can wake up early tomorrow and go teach.
